Privacy Policy

House of Client explores what brands do and what it means through the lens of culture, identity and the forces shaping relevance today. It is written by Noorin Virani and published at houseofclient.com.
This policy explains what happens to your data when you visit the site or subscribe to Signals & Moves. It is short because it reflects what we actually do — which is not much.

What I collect
When you subscribe to Signals & Moves, I collect your email address only. Nothing else is needed. I do not collect any sensitive personal data.
When you visit houseofclient.com, Squarespace (my website host) automatically collects standard technical data: your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This is used for security and basic site analytics. I do not use it to identify you.

What I do with it
Your email address is used for one thing: to send you the Signals & Moves newsletter.
I do not sell it, and I do not and will not share it with third parties for their marketing. I do not use it for advertising.

Who handles your data
Two platforms process your data on my behalf.
Squarespace hosts the website and handles visitor (your) data. This data is not personally identifiable, and I use it to show me what content you are interested in. They are based in the United States and rely on Standard Contractual Clauses for EU data transfers. Privacy policy: squarespace.com/privacy
Mailchimp delivers my newsletter. When you subscribe, your email goes directly to Mailchimp, operated by Intuit Inc., also based in the United States. They rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Privacy policy: mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/
I do not use Google Analytics, as I do not want you to be faced with a consent banner when you visit my website.
Neither platform uses your data for their own marketing without your separate consent.

Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data at any time. You can also withdraw consent, restrict processing, or ask for a portable copy of what we hold.
To unsubscribe, use the link at the bottom of any Signals & Moves email. For anything else, contact me at noorin@houseofclient.com.

How long I keep your data
I keep your email address for as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, Mailchimp removes you from the active list and keeps suppression record to ensure we do not contact you again.

Cookies
Squarespace uses cookies to keep the site running and collect basic analytics. Strictly necessary cookies require no consent. If you would like to manage cookie preferences, you can do so through your browser settings.
I do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

Legal basis
I send the Signals & Moves newsletter to you on the basis of your consent. You gave it when you subscribed. You can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing.
Squarespace's technical data collection is based on our legitimate interest in running a secure and functional website.

Changes
If my policy changes in a way that affects you, I will let you know by email before it takes effect. The current version is always at houseofclient.com/privacy-policy.
